**🖤 The Crow’s Promise – A Halloween Tale 🖤**
Years ago, Lila had found a wounded crow near the woods behind her house. She'd taken it home, nursed it back to health, and watched it soar back into the sky. But every Halloween since, a gathering of ravens had appeared, circling her home with watchful eyes. Though they never came too close, she couldn’t shake the feeling they were waiting for something. 🌑🐦
This Halloween, as the sun dipped behind the trees and shadows thickened, Lila noticed a figure by her window—a boy with dark, shimmering eyes that held a glint of recognition. He introduced himself with a mysterious smile and said, “I’m the crow you saved, Lila. You set me free, but now I’m here to return the favor.” Confused and unsettled, she asked what he meant, and his face turned solemn. “The Murder is coming for you,” he whispered. “You took one of their own. Now they’ve returned for your blood.” 🪶👤
As darkness fell, the air grew heavy with the sound of flapping wings. Ravens filled the sky, gathering in a swirling black mass above her house, their eyes glowing red with vengeance. Lila felt their hunger in the way they watched her, their shadows stretching along the walls and floors. Her heart pounded as she turned to the boy, who seemed more like a crow in human form, with a gaze as ancient and mysterious as the forest.
“You have to trust me,” he said, holding out his hand. “Only I can lead you to safety.” With no other choice, she took his hand, and together they ran into the forest, the murder of ravens shrieking and swooping close behind. They darted between trees, her feet barely touching the ground, guided by the boy’s silent understanding of the forest paths. The ravens followed, a cloud of feathers and fury, relentless in their pursuit. 🌲💨
Just as Lila felt the ravens closing in, the boy whispered an incantation, and a shimmering circle of light surrounded them. The ravens halted, screeching in fury, their eyes blazing with hatred as they clawed at the invisible barrier. “They can’t touch you as long as you’re under the crow’s protection,” he murmured, his face shadowed with sadness. “But remember, each Halloween, they’ll come for you—until the debt is repaid.”
As dawn broke, the ravens dispersed, their angry cries fading into the early light. The boy gave her one last look, his dark eyes reflecting a promise older than memory. “The crows remember those who show mercy,” he said, before vanishing into the trees. And with that, he was gone, leaving Lila with the knowledge that each Halloween, she’d be tested by The Murder, her only protection a promise from the crow she’d once saved.
