B-cyclepedia Thom Christopher
In this particular scene from the Second Season Of Buck Rogers and The 25th Century Hawk played by Thom Christopher was guiding Buck, Wilma, Dr. Goodfellow out of harms way from some ships invaders; Thom said " We were moving fast down a long corridor with Hawk in the rear of the group to protect them as they moved to safety. The movement was all into the camera at the end of the passage." " It is important to remember that the passageway is now wired with explosive “squibs' ' which will be rotoscoped in post production to give the effect of taser guns firing at each other. As directed I turned, took out my taser gun and started firing at the approaching invaders. The camera is now shooting over my back. Suddenly the sound bell goes off and the scene is stopped. The sound man, a patient and lovely jewel of a man, says “I’m picking up a slight hissing sound from the set”, so the effects crew rewires the passageway and we have about a ten minute delay to reshoot the scene. All is reset and action is called. Again the sound bell goes off and the same refrain of a hissing sound is picked up. The crew resets the squibs. Now Vincent is standing very, very close to the set watching all that is going on when action is called “Action”. We start firing at each other, there is suddenly the somewhat loud and patient shout of “Cut” from Vincent. We all freeze in wonderment. He gently, slowly moves his 6’3′'' frame of body towards me with a slight smile of “Hello dummy” Vincent then says very nicely, almost too nicely: “What are you doing may I ask?” I replied: “I’m in the Hawk defensive position and firing at the advancing space pirates''. Vincent says now with a slight suppression of a smile: “No, what are you doing with your mouth?” “With my mouth?” I replied in wonder. In a very gentle, fatherly patient way Vincent says “Yeeesss!” and proceeds to say to me “Do you realize every time you fire your taser that you are making a sound like “pitshoo, pitshoo”. The child in me it seems was doing the thing that every child did when game playing a cowboy, a soldier or anyone shooting a gun. “pitshoo”, one shot, “pitshoo”, another shot. Needless to say the crew and cast burst into hysterics and I had to live with “pitshoo, pitshoo” all over the lot.
Thom Christopher (born October 5, 1940)[2] is an American actor.
Christopher attended Ithaca College and studied acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse.[3]
He is best known for his portrayal of Hawk, a half-man, half-bird warrior in the second season of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century in 1981.[4] He also played an upstate Pennsylvania mob boss Carlo Hesser (1990–1992, 1996–1997, 2005, 2006, 2008) and his meek twin Mortimer Bern (1992–1993, 1997) on the ABC soap opera, One Life to Live.[5]
Christopher has also had roles on soap operas such as Loving and Guiding Light. He created the role of Noel Douglas on the CBS soap opera The Edge of Night.
Thom is known for these B-movies in Particular
Nola as Niles Sterling (2003)
Deathstalker and the Warriors from Hell as Troxartas (1988) (V)
Wizards of the Lost Kingdom as Shurka (1985)
Space Raiders as Flightplan (1983)
S*H*E as Eddie Bronzi (1980)
In The Movie Space Raiders a small Budgeted Star War’s Ripoff Thom Plays a psychic alien and a member of Hawk's crew. In Raider’s he is playing a Spock Like Character again like “Hawk'' from Buck Rogers. Red Letter Media will feature this movie on their Net series Best Of The Worst. This will not be his last Collaboration With B movie Producer Favorite Roger Coreman. Thom will be featured in an episode of MST3k with Wizards of The Lost Kingdom this is another of many sword and Sorcery Movies that Corman produced. Wizards of The Lost Kingdom featured Thom as a wizard long before the Lord of The Rings Series. Thom out acts most of the other characters in this film and makes a great villain. He has the perfect voice for voice over work and should have been paid for any voice over work but he has such a following in the daytime soap world that he would probably not give that up for voice over work. The Next sword and sorcery movie that Thom would be in would be the third installment of the Deathstalker series. This film would be featured in the seventh season of MSt3k and again he will return as a villain in this less child friendly movie than his last appearance in a Roger Coreman sword and sorcery film. Thom Plays Troxartes a Flamboyant King slash Wizard who wants three stones to find the lost city that is supposed to be filled with treasure. Later acting work of Thom would be Niles Sterling, a billionaire client of an escort service. The Character Niles sterling likes to receive rough physical activity from men cross-dressing as women, but only to a point. Wendy, one of Niles's favorites, went a little too far and sends Niles into a rage. Niles demands The madam Margaret to rough Wendy up or else he will have it done, along with inducing the police to investigate the escort service.
Christopher Thom will be known for Hawk from Buck Roger in the 25th Century and Of Course his long stint on the popular Soap opera One Life to Live. He is semi-retired from the Con Circuit at the ripe age of 80 years. I will remember him from several b-movies and if you would like me to feature some more B-movie stars comment below and thank you for watching and subscribing.
