B-cyclepedia Star Cameron Mitchell

 

Cameron is our B-cyclepedia star this week he has graced Red Letter Media with his presence on many Best of the worst Episodes most notably Space Mutiny and Deadly prey. Cameron is also a presence in several of MST3k Episodes. Space Mutiny was shown on MST3k first before it was on Red Letter Media. He was also on the Mystery Science Theater Experiment Stranded in Space. I think lot of people were wondering why you will see Cameron on so many Italian and American Schlock. You can go back to him Filing for Bankruptcy and ending up in Jail for not paying child support as one reason. These Financial issues that Haunted him were probably big reasons that motivated him for acting. He would play cult leaders to Angry Cop Chiefs in the seventies and eighties. Even in death he had showed up in a couple of straight to video releases from footage that was found of him after he died. 

 I think I like angry cop Cameron Mitchell best of all.  He did have the period of acting in Italian action Sword and sandal movies which I find as dirty little escape movies from serious cinema. I like to think some of the Sword and Sandal Movies were a big Inspiration of the The Sword of Sorcery Movies of the Eighties and you might find some of the Sword and Sandal films in your Sword And Sorcery Movies because many of those Sword and Sandal Films are in Public Domain and were used as Stock Footage later in those Films of the Eighties.

 Cameron Eventually died of lung cancer and he left us like Yul Brenner as a warning of the dangers of smoking and the years it can take from your life. He is buried in Cathedral city. You can watch Cameron Mitchell in the links below.
