"Brigitte Nielsen: The Viking Vixen of Hollywood"

Brigitte Nielsen, whose name in Danish pronunciation sounds like a sneeze ([pʁiˈkitə ˈne̝lsn̩]), was born Gitte Nielsen on July 15, 1963. This towering Danish diva, whose career has more plot twists than a soap opera, kicked off her journey in the spotlight by modeling for the likes of Greg Gorman and Helmut Newton. With legs that seemed to stretch from Copenhagen to the moon, she effortlessly captured the world’s attention.

But let’s talk about her leap to the big screen, shall we? Nielsen first wielded a sword in the 1985 fantasy flick *Red Sonja*, proving that Conan isn’t the only one who can swing a blade in a skimpy outfit. That same year, she swapped her sword for boxing gloves (metaphorically speaking) in *Rocky IV*, playing Ivan Drago’s statuesque wife who looked like she could bench-press Stallone.

Speaking of Stallone, she married him. Yes, the Italian Stallion himself. Their union brought us the 1986 action film *Cobra*, where they battled crime and probably discussed the benefits of anabolic steroids at breakfast.

Nielsen then showed her dark side, playing a villain in *Beverly Hills Cop II* (1987). Her role was so iconic that it had Eddie Murphy wondering if Axel Foley had met his match. And who can forget her spellbinding performance as the Black Witch in the 1990s Italian film series *Fantaghirò*? Not many people, apparently, but those who did probably still have nightmares.

As the years rolled on, Nielsen embraced the B-movie scene with the enthusiasm of a child in a candy store, hosting TV shows and becoming a staple on reality TV. She made a memorable return to the Rocky franchise in *Creed II* (2018), reminding us all that she’s still got the eye of the tiger—or at least the cheekbones of one.

Brigitte Nielsen’s career might have more peaks and valleys than the Danish landscape, but through it all, she’s remained a larger-than-life figure who can wield a sword, steal a scene, and probably teach you a thing or two about fitness regimes from the '80s.
